Really good class, excellent trainer
Really good class, with an excellent trainer! Went through the theory in a good pace, giving more time to more complicated parts. Also really liked that it was acknowledged that theory and practice aren't always the same, and that practical tips were given to bring your (complex) reality closer to the ideal situation.

The training matched my expectations
The training matched my expectations. It provided clarity about the role of a product owner. It gave a lot of insight into what a PO is responsible for, and how you can fulfill this. All this was supported by Rob's great sense of humor, enthusiasm and endless energy and great experiences.

Dynamic way of teaching.
Rob was very interactional with his teaching. His use of illustrations and examples instead of a PowerPoint presentation helpt out to deliver the material in a fun and easy to consume way. Also the location was great and his guidence to create a good group dynamic was wonderfull.

It started and ended with so many interactions. Activities were done to help unlearn bad practices and reflect on the good ones. The trainer knows the material so well he could teach it and draw it blindfolded.

The Bounty Island (Ideal Scrum) Training
Rob uses analogies, visuals and humour in his trainings. That makes the scrum framework easy to understand and it allows one to put it into practice even when dealing with a team which is not a typical scrum team. He covers what there is to know about the ideal scrum (the bounty island analogy) and how to get there.

Excellent PSPO training.
Due to the use of storytelling combined with musical and keyword notes, Rob provided an interesting training which many trainees will hardly forget.
By disregarding the classical classroom setup, it never feels like attending a class.

Rob is a very knowledgeable trainer who has a real drive for teaching. He is able to explain things in a fun and interesting way keeping the class engaged on the topic. He is also not afraid to deviate from his prepared class when questions or actual real life examples are brought up. Giving his insights and fully understanding that the theory is different from how things actually work in practice.

Effectieve to the point training
The trainer and the trainees all together. This made a good admosphere and the trainer was able to relay the information without clutter, to the point. He has done this many times you can see and he has eye for his students and the team effort also.

Rob van Lanen is a great trainer. He made the classes very engaging. Pulled us back into focus mode when needed but is also able to read a room and knows when it's time to let off some steam. Very interactive way to learn more about scrum and the ease of all the readily available documentation to recap afterwards makes this a great programme

Great energy and comprehension
This was the first time I had such an energetic and actually useful training. All the examples during these sessions were well structured and the breakout rooms gave me the chance to discuss with the team on these.
Also it gave me a much better picture of the Product Owners role analyzing it deeper than PSPO I.

At first I had four starOne of the best cources I've experienced!s
At first I had four stars, but can't think of what could have been better. Rob took us along in his story of the Bounty Island, with many examples from his personal experiences but also focused on the exam of Product Owner. Lots of humor and always involving us through assignments and thinking along. One of the best cources I've experienced!

fun, fantastic Agile&Scrum - to the max!!
fun, efficient, clear, eye opening, loved the story telling moments, right amount of variety, wished the class took longer, i just couldnt get enough of it, high expectations were fully met, great coach / teacher, eye for details, agile and scrum to the max!! The best virtual training I have ever had!
Due to the Corona virus, this was a virtual training. Both trainers were very well prepared and the tooling was easy to use. Information upfront was very good as well.
The trainers managed to keep the participants engaged and taught the course with a lot of humor and used examples from their own experience as well as those from the participants to clarify the material.
This is by far the best virtual training I have ever had!

PSPO II training in pilot mode…
Very useful training to better understand the role of the PO in stakeholder management, priority setting and interaction with the development team. PSPO II training was still pilot mode with certain interactive exercises not quite clear on purpose and approach. This was mainly due to Terminology and Definitions. The trainer managed this properly and pragmatically.

About Rob
Having spent over tweny years in software-driven product development, I have seen many different organizations and teams. When I started reading about Agile, I knew this was the way to go. I started implementing Scrum and eXtreme Programming practices in 2005 and I never went back to traditional software development.
I have seen and participated in traditional software development. Waterfall teams sliding through the mud and in the end not delivering at all. I have seen Agile gone wrong and even participated in the demise of these projects. However, I learned a lot from these experiences. I have also participated in successful Scrum teams and loved it. I have seen teams work hard to overcome all impediments that the implementation of Scrum made clear to them.
After several years of experience as Developer, Scrum Master, Product Owner and Development Manager, I want to share my lessons with the community. It is my passion to teach the agile mindset and help teams to build great products that end-users love. Guiding dedicated professionals to reach this goal is what makes me get up in the morning.
