The Scrum.org Difference

Why Scrum.org

Competency Model Based

Each Scrum.org course, certification assessment test and broader learning journey is based on a validated and proven competency model. Each competency has a set of Focus Areas that are used to drive an individual's learning, Scrum.org course material creation and assessment questions. View the competencies.

Training

Scrum.org training provides a hands-on, activity-based learning experience using a consistent set of materials around the world no matter which of our Professional Scrum Trainers (PSTs) is teaching the course. Each course explores real-world challenges to help students apply what they learn in their roles once back at work. Learn about what makes our Professional Scrum Trainers different and why you should engage with them.

The maintenance of Scrum.org courseware is based on feedback from the overall PST community who are delivering each class.  They all teach from the same content, bringing great consistency, but also feedback from the real-world to drive incremental improvements and high quality.

On their path to becoming a PST, they must have several years of Scrum experience. Once PST candidates apply, they then go through an extensive process that includes: interviews, validation of knowledge, training, peer reviews and more.

PSTs bring their own style and experiences with a consistent delivery of Scrum.org training around the world, so you know each course we teach is aligned with Professional Scrum, and all of your teammates are learning from the same course materials.

Certification

To receive Professional Scrum certification, you need to prove your knowledge, understanding and ability to apply Scrum in the real-world. Tests are decoupled from training to validate people’s understanding whether learned in a Scrum.org class or in other ways. Although each Scrum.org training class includes a free attempt at a Scrum.org certification, you still need to prove your knowledge by passing the assessment test with a score of 85% or better to receive the associated Professional certification.

Once you receive a Professional Scrum certification by passing the assessment, you keep that certification and remain listed on our website as being certified forever. You do not need to retest as you have already proved your knowledge, nor do you need to pay additional money to retain that certification.

Global Reach and Recognition

Scrum.org has over 360 Professional Scrum Trainers (PSTs) and more than 100 training partner organizations around the world who have taught more than 374,000 students. Our Professional Scrum certifications are globally recognized as evidence of the highest level of Scrum knowledge with more than 805,100 people certified.

Ongoing Learning

Scrum.org provides free ongoing learning resources to help people and teams continue their growth over time at their own pace.  These resources are organized in multiple ways to help people learn in the way they can the most value whether that is one of our role-based learning paths, resource searching or automated alerts.  These resources include blogs, videos, webinars, whitepapers, case studies and more.
